Japanese “King of City Pop” Yamashita Tatsuro finally released a brand-new studio album “Softly” on Wednesday, June 22.

It is the first album from the renowned musician since his 2011’s “Ray of Hope.”

During the promo for the album release, Yamashita Tatsuro mentioned that the album re-established what he can contribute to the present music industry. He also added that he will remain active in the industry as long as he continues to have the ability to deal with any type of issue.

The album came in regular and premium versions. Fans who opt to buy the premium edition will get the regular version’s CD and a second CD featuring seven tracks from Yamashita Tatsuro’s live acoustic performance at the Tokyo FM Hall last December 2021 to commemorate the 1500th episode of his “Sunday Songbook” radio show.

Some of the tracks included in the regular edition of “Softly” includes “Hikari to Kimi e no Requiem,” “Cheer Up! The Summer,” and “Angel Of the Light.” It also released “Mirai no Theme” from the movie “Mirai.”

Aside from the album’s release, the musician also dropped the music video for one of the songs called “Love’s on Fire.”
