South Korean live streaming app VLIVE released a notice that stated from March 2, 2022, V LIVE’s operation will be under Weverse.
On their detailed notice on vlive.tv, they stated that this move is part of NAVER’s plan in shifting business to a new growth phase. The purpose remains the same despite the operator of the business changing. However, all rights and obligations related to the use of personal information and service will be under WEVERSE Company.
Hence, after the transfer, personal information remains of use within the original scope of consent. V LIVE promises to safely manage personal information and provides the help desk for questions and inquiries regarding the transfer and usage.
KPop fans are worried as it didn’t truly detail what would happen with the transfer. It wasn’t explained if their purchases would be transferred and credited from V LIVE to WEVERSE. There are speculations that this is merely an ownership issue and that V LIVE and WEVERSE would still be separated.
Hence, people await V LIVE and WEVERSE’s announcements.
