Netflix hosted a “Squid Game” promotional event in Los Angeles on Monday, November 8, where the director of the mega-hit series revealed his plans for the show’s future.

Speaking with the Associated Press. Director Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed that there are plans to create a second installment of the highly-successful drama thriller.

According to the director, there was a strong demand for a second season of the show. “It almost feels like we don’t have a choice,” Hwang Dong Hyuk stated.

He also revealed that he already thought about the plot for the show’s second season and is currently doing the planning stages. “It’s too early to say when and how it will come out though. But I can promise this. The main character, Gi Hun, will be back and do something for the world,” the director also shared. It means that fan-favourite character Seon Gi Hun (portrayed by Lee Jung Jae) will be back in the future.
