Mnet confirmed that Girls’ Generation idol Taeyeon will be the MC of “Queendom 2.”

On Tuesday, January 25, the production team of the musical variety show competition dropped a statement to announce the idol’s upcoming role in the show’s second season. According to the team, Taeyeon was the perfect choice because of her successful career as a solo artist after debuting with Girls’ Generation.
“Taeyeon is a representative musician who leads global K-pop, and she has a wide range of music fans at home and abroad,” the statement read. “Above all, as a role model that junior girl groups want to emulate, we anticipate that she will provide a diverse role beyond just that of the program’s host.”
The announcement came out after Mnet revealed their plans to produce a second season of “Queendom” in 2022. The first season, which premiered in August 2019, featured the battle of popular female idol groups who were making a comeback to find out who among them is the real number one. The MCs during the first season include Lee Da-hee and Jang Sung-kyu.
Mnet has yet to reveal the “Queendom 2” format and release date at the moment.
