The “Parasite” actress is now recovering after her treatment.
On Monday, December 13, actress Park So Dam’s agency confirmed that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent necessary surgery to treat the disease.
According to the statement released by Artist Company, the 30-year-old actress found out about her condition after undergoing her routine health checkup. The doctors discovered that she has papillary thyroid cancer and recommended immediate surgery. The actress followed her doctors’ orders and had the procedures done as soon as possible.
The actress, who was last seen in the drama “Record of Youth” with Park Bo Gum and variety show “Gamsung Camping” with Park Na-rae, Ahn Young-mi, Son Na-eun, and Solar, recently finished working on the crime action film “Special Cargo” with Song Sae-byeok and Kim Eui-Sang. The movie is scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2022.
“The actress is sorry that she couldn’t be with the fans who have been supporting and waiting for the premiere of ‘Special Cargo’. Park So Dam cannot participate in promotions of the film ‘Special Cargo’ but she is supporting the premiere of the film,” the agency’s statement said.
While she had to miss all the events and promotions for the movie, the agency is still grateful for the cast and crew of “Special Cargo” and all of her fans for understanding her current situation.
The agency also wanted to assure Park So Dam’s fans that she will focus on her recovery so she can return healthier in the coming days.
