Model-turned-actress Jung Ho Yeon is now the most popular Korean actress on Instagram at the moment after starring at Netflix’s hit survival drama, “Squid Game.”

Jung Ho Yeon shares behind-the-scene experiences while taping Netflix’s ‘Squid Games.’

The 27-year-old star made the major social media feat after the drama’s release. Before Netflix dropped the smash hit on September 17 worldwide, Jung Ho Yeon only more than 400,000 followers on the photo and video sharing platform. But the number of her followers increased to a whopping 13.2 million after two weeks.

‘Squid Games’ star Jung Ho Yeon becomes the second most followed Korean celebrity on Instagram.

The acclaimed model, who also went on to become the second placer in “Korea’s Next Top Model” season 4 in 1993, first overtook Korean superstar Song Hye Kyo’s record on Instagram early Monday, October 4. The “Descendants of the Sun” star currently has 12 million followers.

Song Hye-kyo is now the third-most-popular Korean star on Instagram.

But since the hype about “Squid Game” is still at its peak, Jung Ho Yeon continued her social media winning streak and surpassed the record of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” lead Lee Sung-Kyung before the day ends. At the moment, Jung Ho Yeon now has more followers than the 31-year-old model-actress-singer, who has over 12.9 million followers on the social media platform.

When asked about the attention that she continuously gets on social media, the actress said that she remains in disbelief. “In the beginning, I was very surprised as I checked in real-time. When I opened the app once, the number went up, and when I opened it again, it went up further,” the actress shared during a recent press conference for the series. She also added that she attributes her current success on Instagram to “Squid Games.”

She also expressed her gratitude to everyone around the world who keeps on showing interest in her. In addition, she admitted that her growing number of followers put her in a good mood.
