The entertainment streaming giant confirmed the return of the military drama on the platform Tuesday, December 14.
According to the streaming platform’s announcement, season 1 director Han Jun-hee will continue to helm the next installment of the live-drama adaptation of Kim Bo-tong’s webtoon “D.P. Dog’s Day.” Both Han Jun-hee and Kim Bo-tong will work on the script for the upcoming season.
The drama follows the adventure of Jung Hae-in’s character, Private Ahn Joon-ho. His mandatory military assignment brought him to a special unit called Deserter Pursuit, or more commonly known as D.P. It is tasked to investigate and track down the military deserters and bring them back to the military service. He teams up with Corporal Han Ho-yeol, portrayed by Koo Kyo-hwan, to fulfill their duties.
The first season earned raves from the public after debuting in August 2021. It belonged to the top 10 of the trending shows in Korea and other parts of the world, including Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan.
Aside from the blockbuster success, it was also included in The New York Times’ list of the “Best TV Shows of 2021” early this month.
Netflix has yet to reveal the release date of “D.P.” season 2.
