A silver lining finally emerged for the controversial star’s career.
Kim Seon Ho’s participation in his debut film “Sad Tropics” will go as planned, the film’s production company NEW announced Monday.
In a statement, an official from the production outfit revealed that they chose to work with the actor after a lot of consideration. The official also mentioned that the filming of the movie will begin this year.
The star’s agency Salt Entertainment also verified that Kim Seon Ho will shoot for the movie.
The film, under PD Park Hoon Jung, will feature a story about a man who has a Filipino mother and a Korean father. He dreams of having a career as a boxer and returns to Korea to look for his father who left him. Actress Go Ara is also revealed to appear in the movie.
The actor, last seen in the hit rom-com drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” was recently involved in a scandal after his ex-girlfriend shared an anonymous post, claiming that he manipulated her to get an abortion under the wrong pretenses. She also claimed that he mistreated her after getting the abortion and talked badly against his co-workers. While the post did not mention the actor’s name, Kim Seon Ho confirmed that he was the one mentioned in the viral statement and released a public apology.
The controversy affected the actor’s blossoming career. After his hit rom-com drama, Kim Seon Ho’s advertisements were pulled out. He was also removed from his variety show “2 Days and 1 Night Season 4.” The actor was also scheduled to star in two films “Dog Days” and “2 O’Clock Date,” but the productions of these movies announced that he will no longer be part of the cast.
However, the actor slowly regains his advertisements back after Dispatch posted articles that shed light about what really happened between Kim Seon Ho and his ex-girlfriend. The articles showed evidence gathered from the former couple’s close acquaintances that belied the ex-girlfriend’s claims, saying that the decision about the abortion was mutual and Kim Seon Ho continues to be a loving boyfriend. The text exchange between the actor and his ex-girlfriend also revealed that they broke up due to the woman’s dishonesty.
