The director managed to create movies that showcased Korea’s complicated modern history through critically-acclaimed films like “Inside Men” and “The Man Standing Next.”
According to reports, the upcoming spy action film is set in China’s northernmost province Heilongjiang’s capital city, Harbin, in the early 1900s. It will tackle the story of independence activists from Korea who will put their lives on the line to set their homeland free.
Hyun Bin is expected to showcase his superb action and dramatic acting prowess for the upcoming movie. His role will have to deal with the loneliness of living in an era where his motherland has no freedom, as well as the anxiety of putting his life in danger for the sake of the country’s independence.
Aside from “Harbin,” the actor will also star in two upcoming movies, including “The Point Men” and “Confidential Assignment 2.”
“Harbin” will also involve some of the country’s best cinema geniuses like cinematographer Hong Kyung Po, who made his name from creating films like “Deliver Us From Evil” and “Parasite.” The films are scheduled to shoot in 2022.
