After seven years, April disbands after the team’s long discussion and deliberation on how their future would go.
This is the culmination of the band after the bullying controversy that rose on February 28, 2021. The scandal rose after a netizen posted on an online forum claiming to be April’s former member Hyunjoo’s brother. In that post, he declared that the reason behind Hyunjoo’s departure from the group was severe bullying. The post even said that the trauma caused the former member to attempt suicide.
Though DSP Media took legal actions against the former member and her family for the succeeding activities after, the other members faced backlash and got cut out from dramas and removed from endorsements. Lee Naeun was recently cleared from her bullying allegation. However, the damage has been done. Even with investigations backing April members, this scandal will be a thorn on their side.
After long discussion and deliberation, the members decided to disband and separate ways. In the report of OsenTV, their statement read:

We would like to inform you about the disbandment of our artist, April.
After a long discussion and deliberation, we and the members have decided to disband the team and go their separate ways.
We ask for your support and interest in the six members who will walk a new path other than April.
In addition, thank you once again to the fans who have supported and cheered for April over the past six years.
Former member Yena withdrew the case she filed against Hyunjoo and her family.
However, Hyunjoo does not have the best luck with April’s disbandment. Netizens are commenting on how April members are innocent after the disbanded members released handwritten letters. Hyunjoo remained with her stance, and her legal team warned DSP Media, who seemed that they would not back down from the threat.
