Big Hit Music dropped a statement on Monday, January 31, about the latest health condition of BTS member Park Jimin, including his COVID-19 infection and recent appendicitis surgery.

In the statement released on the agency’s official Weverse account, the agency shared that Jimin felt abrupt abdominal pain and mild sore throat in the afternoon of January 30. He immediately went to an emergency room hospital for extensive examination, including a PCR test.

“Jimin was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and was tested positive for COVID-19. He underwent surgery following physician advice early morning on Monday, January 31,” the agency also said. “According to the medical staff, the surgery was successful and Jimin is currently recuperating after his procedure.”

The agency also revealed that the 26-year-old idol will get several days of in-patient treatment for COVID-19. He is currently dealing with a mild sore throat but is on his way to a fast recovery.

Meanwhile, the other members of the record-breaking Korean boy band are not exposed to Jimin during the infectious stage of the virus.
