BTS’ Webtoon 7FATES: CHAKHO released its prologue and first episode on January 15, 2022. Since then, webtoon enthusiasts and ARMYs haven’t stopped raving about the web novel. However, others came up with mixed reactions and negative reviews.
According to the band’s parent agency, HYBE, 7Fates: Chakho set several records for the web novel platform Naver Webtoon. According to the HYBE representative, this web novel is the first ever to be launched in ten languages. The languages offered include English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, and Thai.
On Naver’s English platform, the web novel topped the charts and instantly became the most read webtoon and web novel. Within two days of its release, 7Fates: Chakho set the bars high, surpassing 15 million views.
7Fates: Chakho’s prologue was action-packed. You’d immediately witness the seven Chakho members in action, including the spoiler alert Haru, the guardian of the Beom Rock of Inwang Mountain, and Zeha, a half-human, half-Beom, fighting Beoms.
In this story, Beoms are monsters. The webtoon is inspired by the folklore Chakhogapsa, the tiger hunters of the Joseon Dynasty.
It is still early to make a verdict with only the prologue and first episode as a basis. However, the astronomical achievements of the webtoon shouldn’t be ignored or disrespected either, as it is the product of hard work and pure adoration.
