JTBC’s Snowdrop continues to garner controversy. A second petition reached the Blue House, accusing the drama of historical distortion and romanticization, with the petition reaching more than 300,000 signatures. The Blue House released its decision to allow the drama to continue production. Still, JTBC continues to face challenges.
Korea JoongAng Daily reported that some brands withdrew their sponsorships when the controversy worsened. Teazen, Hans Electronics, Ganisong, Do Pyoung Ceramics, Puradak Chicken, and Ssarijai apologized to their consumers. The companies issued statements on their websites and said they were not oriented to the drama’s storyline.
Still, the love story set in 1987 will continue to air as JTBC released the third episode in hopes that it would clear some of the misconceptions that they believe are creating barriers.
