BLINKS are in for a treat.
Canadian singer Grimes is scheduled to drop the official music video of her single, “Shinigami Eyes,” on Wednesday, January 26. But eagle-eyed fans immediately noticed the glaring presence of BLACKPINK’s Jennie in the teaser video.
Rumors about the collaboration between Grimes and Jennie started as early as July 2021, when the dream pop/visual artist posted a photo with the Korean girl group idol on Instagram. She also posted the same photos on Twitter with the caption, “Jennie and Grimes go to space.”
Jennie also shared the photos on her Instagram account with the caption, “Rocket day with my fairy princess.” The duo was seen goofing around in front of a SpaceX rocket.
Nothing was confirmed about their collaboration during that time until Grimes released the teaser for her upcoming MV. In the 23-second teaser, Jennie surprisingly appeared besides Grimes at the 13-second mark.
After dropping the trailer, Grimes talked about working with Jennie in an Instagram post, saying that she had “never seen such as pure talent on set,” and everyone behind the scenes was amazed at her performance.
The official MV of “Shinigami Eyes” is coming Wednesday at 9 a.m. PT/ 12 p.m. ET.
