CJ ENM held the 2021 Visionary Awards on Wednesday. It is the second edition of the annual awards that aims to recognize individuals who have contributed to the expansion of the Korean Wave.

There were six awardees recognized that night: top comedian and emcee You Jae-Suk, Oscar awardee Youn Yuh Jung, who won for Minari, girl group Aespa, Squid Game’s creator and director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, and Street Woman Fighter’s director Cho Jung-Nam. Then there’s multi-awarded, global hit sensation BTS.
Visionary Awards recognized BTS as visionary, being awarded for two consecutive years. This only proves that BTS’ achievements are unequaled and irreplaceable.
Due to their concert Permission to Dance in Los Angeles, held at SoFi Stadium, BTS couldn’t accept the award in person.
As reported by The Korean Herald, CJ ENM announced that they’d release a documentary that highlights the achievements and contributions of the visionaries by mid-December.
